    In 2016, Flick Electric became a Gold Sponsor partner of the NZ Comedy Festival. SAS was Flick's strategic partner in developing this sponsorship - from the core theme up.

    Rather than just 'badging' the event, we chose to create a broad range of content and activations - all linked by a simple theme that led directly back to Flick's core consumer benefits.

    Flick's distinct personality, and unfiltered honesty, were made clear at every stage. This ad - in the very first pages of the Comedy Festival programme - introduced a very different kind of sponsorship... from a very different kind of power company.

    But beyond straight advertising, we used our connection to the NZ Comedy community to create impactful and shareable social content.

    A broad range of leading Festival comics were briefed on the industry's sly tricks and dirty deeds... which they lifted the lid on, in their own unique style.

    Each clip had a different insight... leading to a different 'Flick' point of difference. And as well as being distributed on Flick's social channels, and those of the Festival... they gained extra relevance by being distributed through the profiles and pages of the comics themselves.

    Six comics in all created content - which was edited from full length clips into pre-rolls, video banners and numerous edits for social content, with fresh content continuously released throughout the period of the Festival.

    We also gave the opportunity for the next generation of comic talent to get in on the act. 'Fresh as Flick' was a social channel where any aspiring comic could strut their stuff... with the most liked clips being judged by top NZ comics. The winner, Mayen Mehta, received a star-studded Festival experience including backstage tours, and mentoring from top comic trio Frickin' Dangerous Bro.

    Finally, the nationwide broadcast of the Festival's Comedy Gala was filled with a series of 15 second sponsor messages - all drawing attention to specific Flick proof points, in a distinctly humorous way.
